January 2025 - Wakta Land.
Another day, another adventure! While looking for worlds to explore, I found an amusement park named "Wakta Land" which is a fan-made park for... I believe a K-pop idol group. Some of the signs were translated, but many were not. However, there was a lot of representation for certain music groups, celebrating the number of songs sold and areas of the park themed around these groups/songs.
I contacted a few friends and we made a day of it! We all got our tickets and posed in front of the entrance. Once we were in the park, the first things I wanted to do was take photos of the cutouts. We had a few laughs, posed for photos, grabbed a giant ice cream cone and explored the merch shop. Once we had the itch to explore further, a few of us gravitated towards the first large ride, a hude swinging robot with a spinning disc. There was a warning sign for VR users, but we ignored that and hopped on anyway.
One of us quickly had to close his eyes and hop off, while I and one other stayed until the end of the ride. The warning wasn't wrong, I almost had to sit down!
From there, it was a race to the next area, a few stalls dotted around with an entrance that when touched, teleported you to a log flume ride! We paired up and rode the waves in logs and cardboard boxes. It was a very short ride, but the exit pointed us towards the next area of the park. After a short walk (And a quick refreshment break), we were at a melon themed location which seemed to have been inspired by a record number of streams a song had performed within 24 hours of releasing.
As you can just about see behind the previous photo, the next ride was an enormous ferris wheel! It had to be the largest I have seen in VR and larger than any in real life. We struggled to get on the gondolas as they would not stop, so we ended up separated on the ride. Once I was at the highest point, I hopped out of the gondola and stop atop the wheel, looking out at the amazing view. I could see where we started and where we still needed to explore. It was a huge world!
Once the others caught up with me, we took a selfie atop the ferris wheel and made our way back down to continue exploring.
We spotted the parks monorail and decided to ride it to the next area... Instead we went backwards, all the way back to the start! So after a quick run, past the previous rides, past the stalls, and turning right instead of left to head towards the mountain, we noticed an area we had missed the first time around.
This dome above the lake held multiple photo opportunities, and we, of course, just had to take full advantage! We even witnessed a sort of... Shrine, to british TV host James May. I have no idea why he was there, and for some reason I didn't take a photo of him, but it was certainly James May!
Next up on the agenda, get to the giant volcano! Along the way we past information kiosks, another gift shop, and an area for events to be held (Currently empty). We passed a resort that was still under construction, and a large fire which for some reason we all jumped into. We will all get Darwin awards one day... Anyway, once we were past the resort, we were amongst the ancient ruins. These ruins had no collission what-so-ever and that made it really hard to take photos of. At the end of the ruins was a staircase that lead up to the volcano!
We gathered our courage and began the climb up thousands of steps in order to reach- Nothing. The stairs just sort of stopped and we couldn't get to the top. So... Perhaps an anticlimax. Still, this was a fun time out exploring with friends, something I hope to do again very soon!
Thanks for reading! This has been the longest post by far on my blog, but we did so much in just a few hours! I had to try and document everything. The next one will probably be a lot shorter. See you then!
